The forest owner or legal possessor must draw up and approve a forest management plan in the Nature Conservation Board in order to carry out:
- the economic use of forest resources in the nature conservation zone of the National Park of Gauja;
- the main felling in the landscape protection zone of the Gauja National Park and the cultural and historical zone;
- grooming felling in the nature restricted zone of the national park;
- grooming felling and major felling in the landscape protection zone of the national park;
- grooming felling in the nature restricted zone of the Slytheres National Park;
- grooming felling and major felling in the landscape protection zone of Slytheres National Park.
The forest management plan should be drawn up in accordance with the individual protection and use rules of each national park.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    The service is free.
    The developed forest management plan shall be submitted to the Natural Protection Board in the form of printing in 2 copies or in the form of an electronic document (observing the procedures for the development and presentation of electronic documents specified in regulatory enactments) and in the form of a file.

  2. Receipt of services
    After evaluating the submitted forest management plan and verifying the natural value inventory data in nature, the Natural Protection Board shall take a decision regarding approval or non-approval of the forest management plan within the time period specified in the Administrative Procedure Law.
    If the forest management plan has been submitted to the Nature Conservation Board during the period from 1 October to 31 January, the period for approval of the forest management plan may be extended for a period longer than four months from the date of receipt of the forest management plan, but not longer than until 1 June.
