Such permission of the Nature Protection Board should be obtained in order to move fish species or to introduce new fish species in the waters of the Republic of Latvia, including the use of alien and locally absent species in aquaculture in open growing areas, in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No 708/2007 of 11 June 2007 concerning alien and locally absent species the use of the species in aquaculture.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    An application in a free form, including information in accordance with the information required in Annex 1 to Council Regulation (EC) No 708/2007 of 11 June 2007 concerning the use of alien and locally absent species in aquaculture. When submitting an application electronically, it must be signed with an e-signature.
    The service is free.

  2. Receipt of services
    The Nature Protection Board shall request an opinion from the State Scientific Institute “Scientific Institute for Food Safety, Animal Health and the Environment” BIOR "and the Food and Veterinary Service.
    After evaluating the opinions, the Board shall issue a permit for the movement of fish species and the introduction or propagation of new species in the waters of the Republic of Latvia or a refusal to issue such permit.
